Eric Y. Lee

PIANO

Pianist Eric Y. Lee loves to explore vast arrays of the piano repertoire, from Bach to Unsuk Chin. Inspired by his dual passions of music and math, Eric infuses an analytic approach and a sensitive tone to his pianistic interpretations.

Eric made his orchestral debut in 2024, performing Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto with maestro Dinuk Wijeratne and the University of Ottawa Orchestra. Last January, he was invited to perform a solo recital at the National Arts Centre, Fourth Stage including works by Chopin, Bach and Corigliano. Eric also performs at community events, such as the North Korean Defectors Talk and Hope for Peaceful Unification Performance organized by the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, Ottawa Branch.

He recently concluded his studies at the University of Ottawa, completing a BMus and BSc in piano performance and mathematics, with David Jalbert as his primary teacher. In 2025, he attended the Domaine Forget de Charlevoix International Dance and Music Academy, studying with Charles Richard-Hamelin and Henry Kramer; 2023 saw him attending the Orford Music Academy and the Camp Musical Lac-Saint-Jean. A recipient of the 2018 Conservatory Canada Caroline Conron and Marguerite Geiger National Piano Travel and Study Scholarship, the young pianist studied with Dr. Scott McBride Smith in London, Ontario. Eric has performed in masterclass for Benedetto Lupo, Clare Hammond, Marc-André Hamelin and André Laplante, among others.
